Monitoring & Status
Monitoring is insurance against hearing about an outage from a customer. We judge this category on signal-to-noise, because an alert channel you mute is worse than none. These are the picks from the Toolfound index, by the job they do.

How to choose
- Start with what has failed silently before. For most small teams that is scheduled jobs, so start with Healthchecks.io.
- Prefer tools that alert in the channel you already read.
- Self-hosted or managed: GoAccess and Homebutler keep data on your own machine. Hosted tools trade that for zero upkeep.
What's the difference between uptime monitoring and cron monitoring?
Uptime monitoring asks whether the site is up, from outside. Cron or heartbeat monitoring waits for your job to report in and alerts when it doesn't.
