Privacy & Security
Security software has one requirement the rest of the directory doesn't: it has to be trustworthy before it's convenient. We favour products that publish how they work and keep your data local where they can.

How to judge a privacy tool
- Where does my data go? Prefer local processing (ApexPDF) or self-hosting (ArchiveBox, Open Archiver).
- Is it open source or independently audited?
- Who runs it and where? Look for a named company and jurisdiction.
Listings are ranked by community points. Check each tool's site for current terms.
